Prius MPG - $3.83

I keep track of the gas I put in my Prius and my mileage every time I fill up. You can read about how I became a Prius owner here. I last filled up on March 14th. Here's my latest miles per gallon...

Distance Driven: 396 Miles
Gallons Filled: 9.67 gallons

Average MPG: 38.55

My mileage is slowly but surely creeping up. I've read that the Prius gets worse gas mileage in cold weather, and I've certainly found that to be true this winter. Had I not lost all my data from when I first purchased the car last May, my average MPG would be showing much higher, but since this is only based on data over the last few (cold) months, it's lower than what I would expect to see.

Spring is definitely starting to sneak up on us though. If I can leave my house without a jacket in the balmy 50 degree weather, then my little Prius can start showing me some better mileage! Especially since the $3.79 I posted about in shock in March would now be a great price to find.

Prius MPG - $3.79 Per Gallon!

I keep track of the gas I put in my Prius and my mileage every time I fill up. You can read about how I became a Prius owner here. I last filled up on February 23rd. Here's my latest miles per gallon...

Distance Driven: 339 Miles
Gallons Filled: 9.39 gallons

Average MPG: 38.06

I paid a whopping $3.79 for gas yesterday! I'm so incredibly happy with my decision to switch to a smaller car with great gas mileage. My SUV cost double to fill and I filled up twice as often - I can only imagine how much these gas prices would have hurt!

Actually, I can sort of imagine. My husband drives a big guzzler because he needs it for work. As far as trucks go, it probably doesn't do too badly on MPG, but it's been really painful to see him putting $85 worth of gas into it every week. It hurt enough when it was $75!

Prius MPG - A Portland Road Trip

I keep track of the gas I put in my Prius and my mileage every time I fill up. You can read about how I became a Prius owner here. I last filled up on February 1st. Here's my latest miles per gallon...

I'll let you in on a secret - I actually filled up once between now and February 1st. We took a road trip to Portland, and got gas along the way. I completely forgot to write down the exact mileage and gallons, so here's my best guess based on how much the gas was and the last time I glanced at the odometer.

February 11th
Distance Driven: 390 Miles
Gallons Filled: 9.37 Gallons

Average MPG: 37.78

I also filled up again last night. Don't worry, I was on top of it this time!

Distance Driven: 367 Miles
Gallons Filled: 8.94 Gallons

Average MPG: 38.55

I bought my Prius last May, and was averaging far better than these numbers show because you get better gas mileage in warmer weather than in the winter. Unfortunately, I lost all the data to even out these winter reportings! Oh well, it will start getting warmer soon. (Never mind that the Prius and I will be braving a couple inches of snow this morning!)

Prius MPG | Keeping Track Of My Mileage

Ever since I purchased my Prius last year, I have dutifully written down my mileage (miles driven since last gassing up) and the number of gallons I put in the car. Unfortunately, I was recording this in the notes section of my iPhone, and a recent update debacle erased everything. Oh well! I still want to keep track of how far I get and how much I put in my car so I can compare that to what the dash computer tells me, and this seems like the perfect place to do it - and not lose it!

Miles Driven: 318
Gallons Filled: 10.18

Due to extenuating (and uninteresting) circumstances, I don't completely trust that I only drove 318 miles between fills this time. It doesn't jive with my usual performance. But, I've decided to include it for posterity. We'll see how it goes!
